“Lenovo’s experts actively listened to our expectations and demonstrated a strong understanding of our requirements, offering a well-adapted solution that addressed our specific challenges.”
Leading Swiss technical university EPFL empowers researchers with a state-of-the-art, energy-efficient supercomputer powered by Lenovo ThinkSystem and NVIDIA Accelerated Computing technology.
Customer Problem
With more and more researchers harnessing AI and ML to support their work, EPFL looked to refresh its high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure to meet demand and improve energy efficiency.
Lenovo Solution
EPFL selected Lenovo to design and deploy a HPC cluster based on the Lenovo EveryScale framework and combining Lenovo ThinkSystem SR675 V3 servers with NVIDIA® H100 and L40S GPUs.
Business Impact
Powered by a total of 105 GPU nodes, the new “Kuma” cluster has improved access to in-demand GPU resources and ranks 23rd on the Green500 list of the world’s most energy-efficient HPC systems.[1]
“Thanks to Kuma, EPFL will be able to keep breaking new ground in AI and sustainable computing, setting the pace on a global scale.”
Gilles Fourestey, Director of Operations, SCITAS, EPFL
